Morphology
i)
Shape - The
usual form is minute rod , arranged in pairs or singly or in luster but never
in chain . It is so small that it is often termed cocco-bacillus .
ii)
Size – It is about 1.2 to 1.5 μ in length and about 0.3
μ in breadth .
iii)
It is non flagellated , so non-motile
iv)
It is non-sporing
v)
It is gram negative and non-acid fast bacillus .
Pathogenesis produced by Haemophilus Influenzae
i)
The influenza bacillus will produce spontaneous disease
only in man and it is a member of te normal flora of the upper respiratory tract of human beings .
ii)
It produces brocho pneumonia .
iii)
It is responsible for antrum infection , otitis media ,
endocarditis , empyema , arthritis , conjunctivitis and even meningitis .
